Your Guide to the Windsor Park Neighbourhood

July 21, 2026 · By Cheryl Burns REALTOR®

Choosing a home is about more than the house itself. It is about the streets you walk, the schools your children attend, and the community that surrounds you. The Windsor Park and West Royalty neighbourhoods on Charlottetown's west side offer exactly the kind of environment that makes everyday life feel effortless.

Where is Windsor Park?

Windsor Park sits within the broader West Royalty area, on the western edge of Charlottetown. The neighbourhood features a mix of modern construction and established homes, tree-lined streets, and well-maintained properties. It is a residential area in the truest sense, with a quiet, family-friendly atmosphere that still keeps you connected to the city's amenities.

Schools and education

Families in Windsor Park are served by West Royalty Elementary School, located at 80 Commonwealth Avenue. It is part of the Kensington Family of Schools, meaning students typically progress to Kensington Intermediate Senior High School for secondary education. After the 2018 rezoning by the PEI Public Schools Branch, students from the Windsor Park area were confirmed within the West Royalty Elementary catchment. For French Immersion, designated immersion schools serve the greater Charlottetown area.

Shopping and daily essentials

Running errands from Windsor Park is convenient. The Atlantic Superstore at 680 University Avenue and Walmart Supercentre at 80 Buchanan Drive are both a short drive away. For local and fresh options, Kay's Fresh Market on Minna Jane Drive and Foodland on Walker Drive offer convenient grocery shopping. The West Royalty commercial area along University Avenue provides additional retail and service options.

Recreation and community

The Bell Aliant Centre at 550 University Avenue is the area's premier recreation facility, offering a pool, arena, and community programming. Victoria Park provides a scenic boardwalk, outdoor pool, and splash pad for families. Throughout Charlottetown, city parks and playgrounds offer green space and outdoor activities. The neighbourhood itself has walking paths and nearby parks that make it easy to stay active without leaving the area.

Dining nearby

Charlottetown's restaurant scene is just minutes away. Leonhard's on Great George Street offers European-inspired dining with a 4.5-star rating. Sims Corner Steakhouse & Oyster Bar and Merchantman Fresh Seafood are popular choices for premium meals. For casual dining, Brickhouse Kitchen & Bar and Redwater Rustic Grille offer contemporary menus with local ingredients.

Getting around

Commuting from Windsor Park is straightforward. Downtown Charlottetown is approximately a 10 to 15 minute drive. The Charlottetown Airport is about 15 to 20 minutes away, and the Trans-Canada Highway is easily accessible for travel beyond the city. The neighbourhood's position on the west side of Charlottetown makes it a practical base for getting anywhere on the island.

Churches and community organizations

Several churches serve the West Royalty area, including Christ Community Church on North River Road, Sunrise Wesleyan Church on Maypoint Road, and Grace Baptist Church on Kirkdale Road. Community organizations like Recreation PEI at 40 Enman Crescent provide programming and activities for all ages.
